TEE "The Earth Explorer"

TEE is a five piece flute front progressive rock band from Tokyo, Japan. Their so-called 'European' sound is unique considering their far-east origin. The imaginative tunes with complex ensembles and rhythms will definitely catch the attention of prog lovers all over the world. Their sound will remind you bands like Camel, King Crimson, Asia Minor or even Frank Zappa on some parts. The band was formed in 2004 when... more

Kevin BARTLETT

You may not know his name but you have definitely heard his music more than once or twice in your life. Maybe on HBO, or on MTV, or on VH1, Comedy Central, Discovery Channel. Doesn't ring the bell? How about American Idol Rewind, or Dr. 90210? We had interviewed Kevin Bartlett a couple of years ago when his second solo album GLOW IN THE DARK was released. Bartlett has been quiet since that time but but he has been secretly brewing new projects. A few months ago he had put a new song...more

TUNER / MUUT

If you haven't come across the name "TUNER" yet, here is some useful information for you... TUNER is a duo formed by Pat Mastelotto (Mr. Mister, King Crimson) and Markus Reuter (Centrozoon, Halo). They live on two different sides of the planet, Mastelotto in Austin, TX and Reuter in Innsbruck, AUSTRIA. However the distance and the time difference absolutely does not stop these two ultra creative musicians who get together a few times a year to write and record together. But when they are not in the same room, they do a great deal of file exchange online.

TUNER released their first studio album TOTEM in 2005 which immediately took its well deserved place among the best prog albums ever recorded. Following Totem, the duo released POLE in 2007, their second studio album. MUUT was released several months ago and was recorded during the band's tour in Estonia in 2007. Yes, calling them a "band" instead of duo would not be wrong indeed, because between Mastelotto's drums and percussions and Reuter's touch guitar, keys, live loops (add this the laptop as well) they create at least as much sound as a 5 piece band would. It does not end there. MUUT has virtual appearances by Michael Peters, Sirenee, Toyah Willcox (Robert Fripp's gorgeous wife / The Humans), Jerry Marotta and more. This album is the product of very powerful and solid musicianship with its space rock / ambient sound. From time to time you will witness the duo bringing tastes from 70's prog rock, tribal beats, eastern flutes, hip-hop, metal and even rock opera. "Bells of Tartu" and "Imur" will take you to a space journey with ambient sound scapes while "Tied Into a Phrase" will leave you with a feeling like Pink Floyd plays King Crimson. Throughout the album the bass riffs are outstanding being sometimes jazzy and sometimes aggressive. "Viljandi Presidential Suite" will definitely keep you alert with its crunchy guitar riffs and sudden pauses like watching a suspense movie and waiting for "thee" moment to come and to find out the director was only messing around with you on purpose.

Long story short, MUUT is a collection of glowing live performances of two men who met during a train trip from Munich to Bonn and haven't stopped making music together ever since... and we are lucky to witness it.
